I think they both look great! Personally I'm fond of the staight furrows cause you can use an uneven number of blocks. Other than that, I LOVE the barn raising! I do think it would be awesome to have both beds with log cabins, maybe different settings?
I like them both.... But when it comes to quilting, I love the barn raising, becasue you can go around a "trip" - since they also look like trip around the world a little bit.... I did an off center barn raising - that is "different." & I saw one in Webshots that looked really cool - kind of like two barn raising quilts merged together....
I like the barn raising too. If you are like me and keep cutting and cutting those 2" strips - you might end up making 5 of these quilts! It is my favorite pattern. I used some left-over strips to make a rail quilt too. I like your colors - good choice for a boy.
I like this barn raising one better. It's my favorite log cabin variation.
For the other quilt in his room have you thought of using Mary's Triangles? You can set them the same way you do the log cabin and have matching but not matching quilts. And Mary's Triangles works up quick. One of my UFOs is a set of MT that I did in a guild workshop this spring.
Barn raising has always been my favorite unless it's a twin bed, then I like fields and furrows. Your blocks are looking great and I absolutely LOVE your Christmas tree skirt!
I like the little sparkle of the lighter blue showing up here and there. And yes, I like the barn raising - always seem to go to that one when I am making a log cabin!
Carolyn, Well, it's darn close to unanimous...BARN RAISING!!! The quilt has a much richer feel to it in that format vs. the diagonal one. Keep up the super work! Laurie
