While wandering through the antique shops in the next town yesterday, we came upon this little treasure and I had to take it home with me! The tag said, "Circa 1890" and the fabrics do look like they're from that era...pinks, browns, blues and greens, set in an on point rail fence pattern, and hand quilted in a half inch grid. It was just too pretty (and reasonable priced!) to pass up!
Here is a close up...

Nice treasure, Carolyn! Looks like it is in great condition...and is even quite straight for a diagonally pieced quilt...someone knew what she/he was doing! ;-)
I especially love the on-point orientation of this good old pattern, don't you?

Beautifull... What a great purchase. I think I did the same when I saw it! Do you have more antique quilts. I never find them here in the Netherlands. There is not so much quilttradition as in the states.

This is great! And what a simple setting for a traditional old pattern that makes it just sing! You are so lucky that it found you to go home with!
Oh it's wonderful! I love the old fabrics!!

Oh this is a great quilt no matter what the era! What a find! How come I never find these!!! In fact I saw one yesterday a friend found at a garage sale from about the turn of the centure for $25! Geez! I have to go back now and take a picture of it!
I love this!
