Color Ranges...

As promised, here is a picture of the purple and orange log cabin quilt. I absolutely love this quilt, yet it is so far out of my color range that I never would have thought to make it! I tend to stick with my favorites...green, burgundy, tan and navy. I do venture out into pastels, brights with black...but never in my wildest imagination would I have come up with this...and it is so stunning! I quilted for it a customer who is making it for her own customer. It will be turned into a duvet cover.

Once I finished quilting the log cabin, I started wrapping Christmas presents. I have a good start on that now...I know in another 2 weeks I'll be rushing to finish the rest. Now I'm ready to cast on another pair of socks so I can work on those while we watch the Rutgers/West Virginia game tonight. My son drove down to WV yesterday to watch his best friend play for Rutgers. It should be a good game...and hopefully another win for Rutgers!

we all have favorites, and there's nothing wrong with sticking to them -- who said stretching was good for you!? :-)

It is a surprisingly beautiful quilt. I would never pick those colors either but they look good together. Opposite sides of the color wheel so I guess they should go together.

What I think really makes it is the way she found a purple and an orange that are the same value and make that little darker square in there. It's really beautiful. If she were making these in Arizona, she could sell dozens to Phoenix Suns fans! (basketball)

Go Rutgers! I spent many happy days wandering around the campus with my best friend, who was getting her degree there when I was at Kean.

What a striking colour combination. I would never have thought of putting those colours together.

I just love this quilt! I have a green and orange log cabin waiting to be quilted. These colors are terrific!

What a stunning quilt. I like purple and I like orange, but in this quilt the colors are awesome.

Too bad Rutgers lost intriple overtime last night. I was hoping they would win.

That quilt makes my own purple & orange quilt look tame....

I really like this one, it is the second or third I have seen in this color combination, and each has been eyecatching! I just might have to try one for myself.

It's just as you've promised, Carolyn...stunning! So very rich and lively. Seems that quilted duvet covers are gaining popularity.

This quilt if very nice. I love orange, it is my favorite color. How did the ball game go, hopefully better than mine. USC lost, oh well they are in the Rose Bowl. Have a great day.

That is a beautiful quilt -- far from usual colors as well. But I don't think I have found a log cabin quilt I didn't like.

It's a very striking quilt - I can see why you like it, though it wouldn't have been my first choice of colours either. Oh, and as both my parents are Rutgers alums (my dad undergrad, my mom grad) I'll root for them for this game!

Hi Carolyn, sorry to have been missing for so long..*S* The customer quilt is just stunning and EXACTLY what my friend Betsy would make. I love it, but like you, it probably never would have occurred to me.
And what great socks!!! Congratulations on the first pair...but be careful, they are addictive..LOL Hugs, Finn

I made a purple and orange quilt a couple years ago inspired by the spectacular scraps book - I loved how it turned out so not surprised that I like this one too.
