Thanks, Finn...

Finn is a troublemaker, plain and simple. But I'll get to that in a minute. First I want to show you the new prayer shawl I just finished. I've discovered I can crochet much faster than I knit, so I'll be crocheting them from now on! I love how this one turned out. My next one will be a rectangular crocheted shawl. I do like having a finished edge instead of making fringe!
On to Finn...I've been reading the posts and seeing the pictures of the Orphan Train quilts that people are making since Finn challenged them. Oh Finn, I saw your challenge and I thought I'd pull out my orphans. I smugly went into my scrap box, where I throw the extra blocks and thought, "I may come out of this with a half dozen blocks. I used some awhile ago to make a charity quilt top, put a few others on the backs of quilts, so there's NO WAY I'll have enough for a quilt top. It's just not going to happen..."
Apparently I was wrong! I have enough blocks to make TWO quilt tops! And I still have a huge stack of nine patches that can go into another quilt. Finn, you're such a troublemaker! Now I have at least 3 more quilts to make! But, they will go to good homes, so I guess it's not all bad. :o) So, thanks Finn, you've inspired a lot of people!

Wow - crochet! I was never ever to work that out. Your shawl looks nice and I must agree that I like the finished edge.
Those orphans look pretty darned good, too.

Aha -- another set of orphans! Mine seem happier split into color groups, too.

Crochet -- I really wish I could do it. I've tried. It doesn't stick for some reason, which must be why I admire it so much when others do it. The shawl is lovely.

Those orphan blocks look like so much fun to work with!

Hi, I found your site via Heather's.

I'm new to quilting, so I am really curious, what is an orphan train quilt? And how do you come up with extra blocks from other projects?

What are the neat little cottages, are they pieced or fabrics? Very cute orphans you have there :) xoxo melzie

Your crocheted piece is beautiful. These will be such cute quilts, too. Now what will you do with those nines? I have a friend who is making it easy - she's sending me her orphans to put into AmHero tops!

Hi Carolyn, bet you didn't see me sneaking in the back door while you were muttering about 'Finn'...lol. But here I am *VBS*
A troublemaker huh?? But you love me anyway don't you..*VBS* Your orphan blocks...they are wonderful, a free resourse to turn into something of love...perfect! Just doesn't pay to get to smug now does it??? O.K. I'll stop teasing.
Seriously, they are going to be great quilts! And don't stop there, use those 9's! Look for your orphans on Tuesday at the Orphan Train blog..I snitched 'em!
Hugs, Finn
P.S. The prayer shawls are just lovely, and what a great idea, looks pretty simple to make also. Good for you!!

the shawl is very pretty - I also find crochet much quicker than knitting but I like knowing how to do both (simple things only!) I'm making slow progress on my knitted shawl - I brought it with me to Mom's so I hope to work on it some while I'm here. I do like the crocheted edging on yours.
