February Finish #2

I feel like I'm on a roll this month! Last night I finished the quilt that I made with the 5th grade class I work with. I brought my sewing machine into school and each child made a block for the quilt. Once the sewing was done, they traced their hands onto the blocks and colored them in. I put the quilt together and was going to have them tie it. However...thanks to Bonnie and Judy I got the Baptist Fans template from Circle Lord and decided to use that. I quilted it yesterday, put on the binding and hand sewed it down last night and now I can't wait to bring it to school and see the kids' faces when I show it to them!

This was the second quilt I did with the Baptist Fans...hopefully I'll finish hand sewing the binding on that one tonight so I can share it tomorrow!

Love how this turned out! I think I'm going to have to save my money for that Baptist fan template also. I love the creativity of a couple of the kids on their hands - the "eyes" in the palm.

Way cool - and I don't think I mentioned before that my favorite hand is the one that is colored in the circles of color in the palm and on the fingers. If this child did this all him/herself with no prompting, someone needs to make sure their creativity is given an outlet to soar!

I made a quilt somewhat like this with my daughters 1st grade class, they colored in hearts and then I put the quilt together and had it quilted. They donated the quilt to the nurses station, this way they all get to use it at some time or another. I like the baptist fan quilting, that will definately be a good investment.

That is so adorable!!!

Many years back I helped the children in at our church make a similar quilt. We used fabric pain to do the handprints. It was so fun!

Absolutely the quiting is wonderful!!! The quilt is bright and fun and I am sure the kids will be amazed at the transformation from the single block they each colored in - into this wonderful quilt!

Cheers!

This quilt is fabulous! No wonder you got hugs, Carolyn!!!

Those kids are so lucky to have you in their life. Just think what you brought them. Some may have never known what a "quilt" is.

I'm so glad you got the fan templates! I know they are a pricey bugger, but you will use them and use them! Aren't they great?!?

Oh I love this hand quilt - what a great quilt! My 2 raffle quilts were sold last night. I didn't go to the auction so I"m dying to hear how it went! (and who won them)!
