Orphan Train...

I decided to get this one done over the weekend, so here is my first orphan train quilt, completely finished! I quilted swirls all over the quilt, then I got lucky. I was going to sew together orphan strips from old bindings, but then found a binding strip left over from a quilt I made last year that was long enough to bind the entire quilt! I don't know why I made so much binding for that quilt, but I'm so glad I did!
I hope to have another finish in the next day or two...I quilted my Christmas rings table topper quilt and I'm working on the binding. This week is Vacation Bible School at our church, so I can't sew in the evenings. I guess that means I'll have to sew all day!

What a happy quilt! And what a great score with the binding! (Wish the binding fairies would come to my house and put some ready-made lengths in MY stash!)

Wow, what a happy quilt- and I can't believe that those are orphans and not a planned family, they go together so well!

It's wonderful! Congratulations on finishing it! I can't wait to see your Christmas rings...and yes, if you can't sew in the evenings, it's a must that you sew all day! LOL

Nice finish! I would be just as thrilled as you to discover that I already had the binding made. Sometimes the process of making the binding can hold me back from a finish--I am just not that thrilled with that part of the process. Like the others who commented, it is hard to believe that this was not a planned quilt. Just think--all those orphans are no longer homeless in a drawer or box somewhere--they have been adopted and have a home!

It amazes me how fast you can get a project finished. These days I am always lagging behind, but I'm getting inspired by visiting quilting blogs! Your quilt is beautiful!

This is a fabulous idea for using up orphan blocks. I'll have to check through my blocks to see what I can do. Your quilt is wonderful!
