I've been wanting to start a new project, knew I wanted to make it scrappy, but I'm
so tired of working with the Thimbleberries strips that I cut last summer. After all, I've made two quilts out of them and have been using them in my Heartstrings blocks. But the colors are so boring....

Yesterday it occurred to me that Judy said we should pull a fabric from our stash and make something out of it for February...so why couldn't I pull a whole bunch and make my scrappy quilt more interesting and...fun! So, I spent last night and this afternoon ironing lots of old (very old!) fat quarters and cutting them into strips. I've decided to make a log cabin quilt for my bed for the summer. I don't expect it to be done at the end of February, but since I'm pulling lots of fabrics from my stash I figure I can take a little longer. The centers will be red and the logs will be all sorts of colors. While I'm cutting, I'm also cutting some strips larger than the 1.5" strips I need so that I can add them to the strips for my Heartstrings blocks to make those sing a little too!
So my bins are filling up...can't wait to get started!

I'm so jealous..I just can't seem to discipline myself long enough to cut strips. I've got to do that! Good for you. Can't wait to see your log cabin.
Love your title. I was expecting something different! Lol. Nice to have all those strips cut. They will make a great quilt.
I just love an overflowing bin of cut strips! A log cabin will be just beautiful!
Cheers!

Have fun. Log cabins are just the best *s*
I just need to get to the scrap basket and start cutting so I can do the same!
I'll look forward to seeing your log cabin progress. I've really wanted to make one, but haven't yet. Maybe seeing yours will inspire me.
Carolyn, I love strip quilts - log cabins or whatever. Each January I cut squares and strips from all those fabrics that I know I'll never use. This year I cut some 30's and lots of others - just because it gave me a direction for those fabrics. Your summer log cabin quilt sounds wonderful! Hmmmmm - another idea. :>)
It is so much fun to change direction, and make something in a different colorway. I have bunches of stuff in purple, then I switched to brights, then to fall colors. No wonder I never get anything done. But the starting and the first quilt finished is always exciting!
Can't wait seeing the result, too ! But I guess these log cabins are going to come beautifully !
Smiles !
