Sunday Evening

and life is good! The Philadelphia Eagles just beat the New York Giants and will move on in the playoffs. My DH was at the game, I'm sure he's soaked, but I know he's happy!

This afternoon I loaded the first customer quilt of the year onto my longarm. Then I headed into my sewing room and worked on the blue and muslin 9 patch quilt I've been creating. It's very simple, just nine patches with sashing and cornerstones.

Then I began paper piecing the next block for my Women of the Bible Quilt. This is the center of it...the star is 3 inches across. It will have lots of little half square triangles around the edges. I love how it's turning out.

I've also taken Nancy up on her birthday wish and I've joined the Heartstrings group and will be making some string pieced blocks for Nancy's birthday. For the past few years I've quilted for Rosie's Calico Cupboard's Camp Reach for the Sky for children with cancer. I've quilted my last quilt for them and was looking for a new way to contribute. I've decided that Mary's Heartstrings group will be my charity project for this year. Thanks Mary for getting this started!

the mottled fabric in the background of your "women of hte bible" block is wonderful... so very rich. Love the way the sashing and cornerstones are giving the nine patches a secondary design too...

Love the Women of the Bible block colors. I've enjoyed seeing every one of these. How many more to go?

The 9-patch is gorgeous. It always is a great reminder that simple can be beautiful.

First quilt of the new year! Yay! I noticed that you weren't in any hurry, though. =)

We watched the game and were hoping the Eagles would win. DH is from PA so we'll be behind the Eagles. It's been fun to see Jeff Garcia take over as QB and really do a great job.
Your nine patch is wonderful...can't ever go wrong with a nine patch. I love your little star.

Your ninepatch is very nice. Sometimes simple is the best and I do love blue and white quilts.

On my monitor, your WOTB block is reading a rusty orange/red star with peachy/orange triangles framing it...and a lovely green in the background. It is gorgeous!

And then a tranquil blue and white quilt...you're bringing it all, Carolyn! Such terrific projects in the works!

The nine patch looks great. Simple blocks are sometimes the best -- it's classic.

2 of my favorites: 9-patches and blue, a lovely combination. I like the colors in the WOB too.

Thank you so much for making birthday blocks for me. :-) Like you I've decided the Heartstrings project will be my charity thing for this year. Sometimes I'll send blocks for the kitty. Sometimes I'll make whole quilts to donate locally.

I love your blue/muslin nine-patch. That's my favorite pattern. The one I go back to time and again when I want to sew but don't know exactly what.

What a beautiful blue quilt!

Yup, the Eagles one, but I'm rooting the Patriots.
