Sunday Musings...

A gentle rain is falling and it's warm enough to have the windows open...seems like a perfect day to sew! Unfortunately, I'll be "unstitching" a quilt that I was unhappy with the back of when I took it off the machine...LAST Sunday! I've spent about 30 hours frog stitching...it only took 2 hours to put all those stitches in! I hope to have it undone and back on the machine by tomorrow morning.

Of course, since I've been unstitching, no stitching has happened in my house! I'm so ready to sew...but it will have to wait. The quilt in the photos is one that I purchased from eBay a few years ago. I love the blues against the pinks and especially how the maker threw in a few reds and navies among the pastels. She was a maverick! It's actually just part of a quilt...3 sides are bound and one is just folded back and sewn. It was sold as a "cutter quilt", but I couldn't bear to cut it up. It's hand quilted in a hanging diamonds pattern. If I get a chance, later this week I'll post some pictures of my great "find" from my grandmother!

Oh your right - this is a great maverick quilt. My eye right away to the fun design the HSTs make!

My heart bleeds for you when I read about the un-quilting! UGHHH!! I have been there done that, and hope to ward it off as long as I can before I have to do it again! I love he ebay quilt...yes yes yes! I love unpredictable in a predictable setting! Very fun to look at all the variations in each block!

I can't even imagine having to take that many stitches out. But good for you for doing it!

The eBay quilt is gorgeous! I agree with you about cutting it. It's perfect just the way it is!

Oh woe...unstitching song. But you had a lovely atmosphere to do it in, and that helps. I love to sit and listen the the rain..one of my favorite sounds.

Really neat quilt from ebay. I wouldn't have the heart to cut it up either. Glad it came to you..*S*

That is an interesting quilt, Carolyn. Great find! And it appears to be in good condition.

I'm so sorry that you have to rip out stitches. My heart bleeds for you. It is such a PITA!!! (For anyone who doesn't know what that is...Pain In The A--!) Cheers to you for loving the quilt and the workmanship enough to put yourself through the pain.
