Last One...

Our cake decorating class ended last night and if I don't see buttercream icing again for awhile I'll be very happy. Grace decorated most of this cake, I made two of the roses and she did the rest. I was quite impressed, she makes better roses than I do!

Fabric in, fabric out this week. Out went the binding for my sampler quilt, which is finally done and affectionately being referred to (by my husband) as my "Menopause Quilt". I'm looking forward to getting it on the bed and putting away the heavy comforter that makes me a little warm at night. Yeah, that's it...it's the comforter that does it!



In came 3 yards of orange, lime green and yellow fabric to coordinate with the four patches that I showed in my last post. This quilt will be for Project Linus and all of the new fabric will be used for that quilt! I find it hard to believe that at one time in my life, these were my absolute favorite colors...I had the greatest bedroom with bright yellow walls, a royal blue carpet and lime, yellow and orange accents, which included some lime and yellow vinyl pillows that my mom lovingly made for me (although I'm sure she was ready to smack me for making her sew that nasty stuff! Thanks, Mom!) The 70's at their best! I loved that room...and I have to admit, I still love these colors!

He Loves Me...

I've been playing with blocks for the last week and it's been such fun! (Although I now remember why I've only made one true sampler quilt...it takes forever to decide on the blocks, find the patterns, choose the fabrics, cut them individually...) I've made two more blocks since this picture was taken and have ten more to go. I'm going to keep them set on the diagonal, have the darker blue as sashing and a light blue with daisies from the same line as setting triangles. I'm thinking a light yellow narrow border, then the daisy fabric again as a wider border. Any leftover fabric will go on the back...I don't want to add any of this to my stash!

In spite of what the thermometer says, fall really is approaching. I'm ready! I'm itching to use my jelly roll of Harvest Boutique fabrics and I've found the perfect pattern for it...Bonnie's Playing With Jacks quilt. It's all made with 2.5" strips and I think it will look great with the fall fabrics. Thanks, Bonnie for sharing your talents with us!

I'm still trying to decide on a BOM...I've been looking around my sewing room wondering why I think I need another project! Maybe it's time to concentrate on some others. I'm waiting for the bug guy to show up for our annual termite inspection, so maybe I'll try my hand at the longarm...I haven't touched it since before my surgery! I'm definitely going through withdrawal...especially since it's one of MY quilts on there! :o)

Tuesday Afternoon...

and it's hot and humid here in southern NJ. A good day to stay indoors. I've been working on a customer quilt, but took a nice, long break to sit outside with a glass of water and read. I love the longer days of summer...



Last Friday was my birthday, so yesterday I took a ride to Pennington Quilt Works to use my 20% off birthday coupon which expires at the end of June. I had a collection of FQ's and had nothing to go with them. Using my coupon I picked up 2 one yard pieces...the polka dots and one of the florals, and 3 yards of a cream background fabric to go with them. The whole collection is now washed (not ironed as you can see in the photo!) and waiting for inspiration to strike.

I also made a few more blocks for my sampler quilt. I guess this wouldn't fit into Finn's orphan train challenge since I'm making all these blocks new for the quilt. I do have some orphans laying around, I'm hoping to collect them and make something of them this summer.

Back to the machine or I'll never get anything done this summer! :o)
