Saturday in the rain...

Saturday morning found me on a train platform, heading to one of my favorite places....
Friends of mine had flown in from distant places to spend a few days in Lancaster, then in Philadelphia. I couldn't join them in Lancaster, so we made plans to get together and do a quick tour of the historic sites in Philly. The weather was horrendous and it poured all day, so I didn't take many pictures, but did get one of the Liberty Bell. We also saw Carpenters' Hall, Independence Hall, Washington Square, Elfreth's Alley, the Betsy Ross house...all the important places!

It was a great day spent catching up with some of my favorite people...

Deanna from Arizona and Becki from Florida

Mary from Texas and me...from Jersey!
And throughout all this I've also been making time to watch our Phillies in the World Series...it's a great time to be a Phillies Phan!!!
Things should quiet down this week and I'm hoping to find time to sew, I haven't played with fabric in about 2 weeks. :o( I picked up my guitar today for the first time in 3 weeks, so will need to spend some time practicing before my lesson on Thursday. Hopefully, life will get back to normal now!

Thanksgiving Weekend

Yesterday we headed off to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where we had two tickets to the Renoir exhibit. My older daughter, who is in French IV and loves the French Impressionists wanted to see the exhibit. I sent my husband in with her, as he was interested in seeing the exhibit, while I prefer artwork by the old Italian guys.

My younger daughter and I went of to investigate the Middle Ages and religious art...
I'm always amazed when I go that they have entire buildings and architectural elements inside the galleries....

Right down to the beautiful stained glass windows....
After a jaunt through the Asian Art, then the Contemporary Art (which, like Contemporary Quilts, I just don't get!) we headed down to the old Philadelphia Waterworks. We had a beautiful view of Boathouse Row....
After the museum, we met our son at Dave and Busters for lunch and a little game playing, then headed home a did a little bit of Christmas Shopping at some fun stores.

And just to make this post a little quilty, I finished this quilt which I found in my closet. The backing came from the stash...it's the last of an old Jinny Beyer backing fabric which I bought about 12 years ago, so I'm delighted to have it GONE!!!

The stashbusting continues...

Met the Other Woman...

Yes, that's right. Last night I met the "Other Woman". My husband travels a lot for business. When he's not on the road, he often has customers come into Philadelphia and he wines and dines them, takes them to Phillies games, whatever the customer wants.

For several years, whenever customers are in town, they stay at the Comfort Inn on the Philadelphia waterfront. Over the years, he's come to know the bartender there very well. I've heard stories about her for so long, that I often joke that she's the "other woman" in his life because he talks about her so often!

Last night, after dinner, we hopped in the car and took a ride into Philly. Destination? The bar at the Comfort Inn! I finally got to meet her and she is a sweet lady. I think when he is with her, the DH is in good hands! :o) As we were leaving the hotel, which is at the base of the Ben Franklin Bridge, I snapped this picture with my phone. I love the way the lighted bridge looks at night!

I've been working diligently on the customer's quilt which is loaded on the machine. It's very large and seems to be taking forever. (It's really not, it just seems that way!) I have a second, similar quilt to do for the same customer when this one is done. So, no quilting on my sampler quilt this week!
